Book Binding | Workshop by Little Syam

Today I have scheduled a workshop held in KLCC by Little Syam. I have sneak peek through her blog and all her creation-she even has her own studio to do all her experiement. The scheduled workshop today is all about notebook. She carefully prepare all the material in plastick pocket for every attendance, and the design its unique for every pack.

Inside every pack, there was another pocket while all the small stuff being stored, there were 4 flax wax thread with different colour, 4 circled represent buttons, 4 eyelet, 1 neddle, and 1 small alumunium based embelishment.

The outer pack full with different types of craft paper in brown and white colour, some cover with hand silkscreen printed in two size and one set leather (not pure leather). Other equipment were prepared as well, but we were sharing it-like the hammer, paper puncher, eyelet opener.

We start by making the small type of bookbound, while all the material has been prepared, and all we need to do was make a hole. By the way during this session I actually did make the hole-real hole in the floor (oops). Aside from that fact, this was the result after paper puncher activity.

After that we start knit the threads to join the cover and the pages inside. I didnt manage to record down the step by step because the instruction really fast. The same method was used for the 2nd and 3rd book, it just that we used different material and more stuff. You should pay a visit whenever she hold her workshop, it was really fun and good way to spend your weekend exploring new skill. At the end of the day, we managed to bring home 3 set of book-which later one of it being used for another personalized project :). I will share the details once the design finalized-on how I will use the notebook I created today for something even more sweet and meaningful.
